Discus River does not re-sell fish. All fish I provide are bred in my hatchery. This is great news for my clients and it makes Discus River special for a number of reasons:
- The price is affordable. Because I sell the fish I breed, there is no costs of re-selling and transporting the fish from the hatchery to a retail store.
- You can see the parents of the fish you purchase. This is especially exciting when you visit the hatchery in person. For those ordering a delivery of fish, pictures of the parents can be sent by email. If you are purchasing young fish, this gives you the opportunity to know the exact coloration and pattern they will display as adults.
- Having raised the fish from the time the eggs are laid I know everything about each fish I sell. For example, I can provide you with very specific information on the age of the fish you are interested in.
- Because there is no re-selling, each fish in the hatchery is in the best health, and is parasite and disease free. They simply have no way of contracting disease or parasites.
- Each fish is fed with organic healthy food such as my own beef heart mix, live white worms, black worms and high quality granules. I do not feed my fish with any food of fresh water origin to avoid potential risk of disease (e.g. blood worms, tubifex or daphnia).
